Traffic Jams

After getting stuck in quite a few traffic jams in Hyderabad, which has wider roads compared to other cities, i started to look for the origin of these Jams. There could be reasons like breakdown of a vehicle in the mid road, road widening process or other road constructions which are unavoidable or are necessary constructions which may ease out the situation in future. But more often than not it is the tendency of people to get ahead of others in what is the race of life. On a road with no divider separating the traffic on both sides if a vehicle stops to give way to another vehicle the vehicles behind it block the whole road and as a result the traffic coming to their side also gets blocked. This continues with vehicles standing in front of each other trying to get a way. The two wheelers think 'my vehicle is small i can easily go through it' and he zooms into it. Some think 'others are waiting as they are fools and i don't have time so i must cross it somehow'. Taking advantage of the situation a car owner parks his vehicle and goes for shopping thinking by the time he comes back traffic would be clear. And the traffic jam continues with all the roads leading to it getting jammed.

This is the situation of our country's development path also, every one wants to progress but at the cost of others, even if India does not progress i should get richer and richer. But that does not happen, we can progress only if all walk and strive together. Perhaps we should have more classes on Moral Science, for parents who themselves don't know the traffic rules cant teach their children what is right and what is wrong.
